The body of an unidentified man, aged 40-45 years, was found in a housing locality near the Turahalli forest, South Bengaluru, on Sunday.
The discovery of the body led to speculation that the deceased had suffered fatal burn injuries while trying to light a fire in the reserve forest on Saturday night. A half-burnt can was found lying near the body. There was speculation that the can contained fuel.
The jurisdictional Thalagattapura police, however, ruled out any connection between the deceased and the wildfire.
“We suspect that the man was killed elsewhere and his body brought into a desolate place near the forest for the purpose of burning and destroying it,” said a police officer who’s part of the investigation.
Efforts are underway to identify the deceased.
