It was a weekend spent trying to reach near and dear, but in vain for many in the city. For over two hours, starting Saturday late afternoon until evening, Vodafone IN network just stopped working in the city.

Many who took to the social media, claimed efforts to reach the customer service number were unsuccessful as well.

Network bars went blank with a message, ‘No Service’. Calls and messages including emergency calls failed. An error message was displayed on the phones — “No voice service: Temporarily turned off by your carrier for SIM.”

Customers took to social media lashing out at Vodafone. “Vodafone network problems past one week...no network coverage. suddenly changed 4g to 2g then change 3g. Voice call not working properly,” read one tweet.

The problem seemed to persist across the state. “Hello Vodafone, is there any connection issues in Mysore? Getting the attached notification and unable to call or receive calls,” said Anand, another Twitter user attaching a screenshot. Several Vodafone users, over the past week, have been complaining about frequent and abrupt call drops and disruption in data services.

Meanwhile, Vodafone IN’s twitter handle reverted to customers asking them to share a direct message regarding the same.

“This is a temporary issue. Our team is working on it,” it said. Customers also poured into several Vodafone stores. “The cables have snapped and it needs repair,” said a customer service executive at a store near Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Meanwhile, Vodafone, in an official statement, said: “Due to unforeseen occurrences, there was a temporary disruption in some parts of Karnataka earlier today. Our prompt response action ensured the full restoration of services within a short time. We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers during the restoration period.”
