A 28-year-old woman lawyer has filed a criminal complaint against a bar after she suffered severe burns while having 'fire shot' drinks.
The woman had visited the bar located along Residency Road on Friday night and ordered food and drinks. According to her, the bartender offered her a 'fire shot'. When she asked as to why she was being offered that drink, the bartender told her it was being given to every customer. When she held the fire shots, the drink burnt her face and the neck. The woman claimed that the bar staff denied her medical treatment for nearly three hours. She, however, managed to call her friends and reached a nearby hospital.
When questioned by the police, the bar staff insisted that the woman had herself ordered the fire shots. The drink fell on her as she failed to hold the glass properly. The bar management was not available for comment.
Police have opened a case under IPC section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
