Yo Yo Honey Singh's latest album Honey 3.0 will reflect “his changed attitude to life” and will be released on April 15. Bengalurians, however, can get a taste of it at the concert in the city on April 1.
In a build-up to his album release, Honey Singh has been touring India. So far, he has been to Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad. He will be performing in Bengaluru tomorrow at Courtyard, Phoenix Market City from 8 PM onwards.
Despite his notorious reputation for promoting vulgarity and violence against women in his lyrics, Honey Singh's experimental take on hip-hop – where he mixes various genres seamlessly – has always made his songs zoom straight to the top of the charts. That, he promises, will not change.
“My last album was Desi Kalakar. I am creating my own album after a hiatus of nine years. We have raised the bar on every aspect of this project -- the sound, the music, the vibe, and the message that we aim to convey," Honey Singh said, in an email interaction.
"This time, I have taken on the responsibility of writing and composing the songs myself. Bass Yogi and Hommie Dilliwala have taken on the role of music producers. We began the process in September, and by the end of October, we created about 30 songs. From that impressive line-up, we have selected the top 10 for the album," he added.
“The turnout so far has been massive. The ticket sales are amazing in Bengaluru too. Next week we have Kathmandu. Post that, we have Mumbai and Raipur,” said Akshat Jaiswal, tour director of Ojas Entertainment, the event-management company behind the Honey Singh 3.0 India tour 2023.
The cities for the tour were not picked randomly; they have a large Honey Singh fan base, said Jaiswal. “We have geotagging in every city. Via social media stats and YouTube reach, we could tell the kind of reach we have in every city, and the concerts were planned accordingly."
Yo Yo Honey Singh had earlier shared a teaser on Instagram to announce his album and his India tour. The clip immediately snagged him 1.8 million views, proving that the man can pull a crowd no matter how long a break he takes.
The album will be released on April 15, on the day he will be performing in Mumbai.
