Bus driver, who knocked down Ranga, gets bail

The driver of a private bus from Kerala, which knocked down and killed the elephant, ‘Ranga’, near Mattigodu elephant camp was released on bail on Tuesday reports DHNS from Gonikoppa.

Ismail, the driver of the private bus Kalpaka plying to Hunsur from Gonikoppa, rammed into the elephant Ranga in the wee hours of Monday. The accident resulted in the death of the pachyderm. The bus driver Ismail was arrested by Ponnampet police on the same day.

Meanwhile, forest officials dismissed the rumors about a proposal submitted to government on shifting the elephant camp. An officer, on condition of anonymity, told DH that the Mattigodu camp, under Nagarahole National wildlife zone, had adequate fodder and water for the elephants.
