Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati said that campaigning for NOTA (None of The Above) is also a form of violation of election code of conduct.

Speaking to media persons during an interaction here, on Saturday, Korlapati said that the information about NOTA can be shared during the demonstrations on EVM. “But campaigning for NOTA is a violation of poll code of conduct.”

She said elaborate preparations had been made for forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, while Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (Sveep) programmes were being carried out across the district effectively. The persons with disabilities are also assured of all sorts of assistance to help them exercise their franchise.

Voters facing any inconvenience in the polling booth can immediately submit a complaint through cVigil app.

“The district administration will write to the Election Commission to make arrangements for transport facilities to ferry voters from remote village to the polling booths.” The 1,111 polling stations in the constituency will receive the polling machines on the eve of polling.

Korlapati said that Udupi City Municipal Council had been directed to supply water to residents thrice a week. Panchayat Development Officers had been instructed to take all possible measures to supply water in case of water scarcity at the gram panchayat level.

She appealed to the residents to utilise water judiciously.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Sindhu Roopesh said Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (Sveep) is being effectively implemented.

As many as 35 college students had been identified as campus ambassadors to create awareness on voting in the college premises.

The CEO said an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh seized in Mala in Bajegoli was returned to the owner after the latter had submitted valid documents.
