The Election Commission has taken up a probe into seizure of Rs 1.20 lakh in an escort car of PWD Minister H D Revanna, when the model code of conduct was in force for Lok Sabha polls at Holenarsipur.
Regional Commissioner Anil Kumar and ADGP Raghavendra Auradkar conducted an inquiry into the case in the presence of District Electoral Officer Priyanka Mary Francis, also Deputy Commissioner, on Tuesday.
They questioned police personnel, Income-Tax department officials and Holenarsipur police regarding the case. They watched the video of cash seizure.
Manish Moudgil, Special Officer of the Enforcement division of the EC, had given a report to conduct an independent probe as a government vehicle, that too a police department vehicle, was used to transport the cash.
