The election authorities seized Rs 1.90 crore cash belonging to Belagavi District Central Cooperative Bank that was being transported without valid documents at Nesargi checkpost in Bailhongal talik in the district on Wednesday.
The assistant returning officer (ARO), Kittur and Static Surveillance Team intercepted the vehicle that belonged to the bank. They found that three employees of the bank were allegedly carrying the money from the main branch to other branches, according to Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy.
The bank employees failed to present requisite documents. The case was referred by ARO to income tax officials for verification of documents.
Nesargi Police have registered a case.
