Taluk Panchayat president Nettekerehalli Jayanna directed the Health Department officials to check the spread of communicable diseases in rural areas.
He was speaking at the taluk panchayat meeting on Friday, he said there is a need to create awareness on H1N1, dengue, chikungunya, and other diseases. Handbills should be distributed among the villagers and ANM should visit all the villages, he added.
Taluk medical officer S Seema said that 28 people have been infected with H1N1 virus in Chikkamagaluru taluk and four have died of H1N1. Five beds have been reserved for treating H1N1 affected patients at the district hospital. The medicines for treating H1N1 are available in all the primary health centres in the district.
Member Ishwarahalli Mahesh said that under Ayushman Bharat Yojana, BPL cardholders can avail free tertiary treatment at private hospitals. Thirty per cent of the treatment expenses for APL card holders will be borne by the government under the scheme. There is a need to create awareness on the same, he added.
Mescom assistant engineer T C Manjunath said that 641 beneficiaries have been selected under Deendayal Upadhya Electrification Scheme at Aldoor. Already, electricity connections have been supplied to 101 households. The work on installing 150 electricity poles is in progress.
Taluk food inspector M K Vijayakumar said that 1,685 applications have been received by the authorities for new ration cards, of which 367 ration cards have already been distributed.
