MP Pratap Simha, on Thursday, remarked that the Congress had joined hands with JD(S) only to prove it’s existence.
At a press conference here, the MP said that political parties form coalitions only when they are weak. The JD(S)-Congress coalition proved that the BJP was strong, he added.
Simha claimed that the BJP was not hindered by the coalition. He added that BJP would face the Lok Sabha elections based on the development works initiated by the Union government.
When asked about his candidature, Pratap Simha said that BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa had said that all the sitting MP’s will be given tickets.
The MP also said that a few mass media were spreading rumours that people were not supposed to campaign over social media.
Advocate P D Medappa said, as per Article 19(1)(a), all citizens have the right to freedom of speech and expression. But, this right was subject to reasonable restrictions. Campaigning for a particular party or candidate over social media was not illegal and not a violation of model code of conduct (MCC), he said. BJP state unit secretary M Rajendra was present.
