The Anti Naxal Force (ANF) has intensified its combing operation in the border areas of Kodagu and Kerala.

Wayanad is under tight surveillance in the wake of campaigning by AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. There are possibilities of
Maoists sneaking into Kodagu district, through the border areas, for food and other necessities.

Combing operations on the border areas have been intensified. Additional staff have been deployed for the same.

Recently, there was an exchange of bullets between the police and Maoists in Vaitri police station limits in the Wayanad district.

The combing operations are being carried out in Brahmagiri, Makutta, Naladi, Birunani, Karike and Tirunnelli, under the guidance of ADGP Pratap Reddy.

According to sources, three teams have been formed for the combing operations in the forest areas.

The ANF team has been gathering information from the villages nearby. Public interactions are being conducted to build confidence among the people of Nayikkallu Colony as well as Birunani and Nettukunda villages.

The elections in Kerala are scheduled to be held on April 23. As there is a possibility of Maoists moving from Kerala to Chikkamagaluru via Kodagu, security has been strengthened in the region.
