The mandatory Covid-19 negative certificate to be obtained 72 hours prior to the journey to Kodagu, has posed a hurdle for a marriage scheduled on March 1.

With the rise in Covid-19 cases in Kerala, all those entering the district should produce a Covid-19 negative certificate obtained 72 hours prior to their journey. The rules have created tension in the house of Rohini-Jayappa Naika at Kadagadalu in Kodagu.

The couple’s daughter, Asha, is engaged to Pramod, son of Narayana Nair and Geetha, from Muliyar, in Kasargod.

The marriage is scheduled to be held at Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri. The strict enforcement of rules has created tension for both families.

“It is difficult to get negative certificate owing to holidays on Saturday and Sunday,” feel the family members.

“We are not against the testing of samples for Covid-19. If the samples are tested in government hospitals, then there is a delay in getting the report. We have to spend more money on getting tested in a private hospital,” said the family members.
