A colourful march-past and a cultural extragavanza by schoolchildren, highlighting the contributions of Dr B R Ambedkar, added zest to the Republic Day celebrations.
A tribute to Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swami, who passed away last week, was another focus area of the programme by the children.
‘Kargil Kathana,’ a dance drama was performed by 800 students from NBN Vidya Mandir, Weaver’s Colony, government higher public school, Anjanapura and Aniketana Public School, all from Bengaluru. The item was a befitting salute to the soldiers who took part in the Kargil war.
‘Namma Bharatha Bhavya Bharatha’ and ‘Integrated India - Great India’ - remembered the contributions of the country’s leaders, including Ambedkar.
