Swami Ekagamyananda of Ramakrishna Mission has said that radio is a medium not just of the ear, but of the heart and is a bridge between people and the society.
He was speaking after inaugurating the decennial celebrations of Community Radio Sarang at St Aloysius College on Tuesday.
Swami Ekagamyananda said radio still has its place at a time when the world is full of digital media.
“Though private radios have brought in unhealthy competition, community radios, like Sarang, have helped in bringing quality content to satisfy listeners who depend only on radio,” he added.
As part of the decennial year celebrations, giant umbrellas were distributed to six street vendors, including M M Bilagi, popularly known as ‘Samosajja’.
Former MLA J R Lobo, theatre person Devdas Kapikad, Rector of St Aloysius Institutions Fr Dionysius Vaz, Principal Dr Praveen Martis and director of Radio Sarang Dr Melwyn Pinto were present for the programme.
