Kalburgi Lok Sabha member Umesh Jadhav has demanded the inclusion of Kalburgi City Corporation under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram(PMJVK).

Kalburagi City's population is 533,587 according to the 2011 Census. Whereas the current population is more than 6.5 Lakhs out of which 39% of the population belongs to the Minority communities which is around 2.6 lakh in the city itself. With the PMJVK guidelines says any district having 25% and above of minority population can be included in the scheme, Kalburgi city can included as the city has 39% of minority population, he said during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha.

PMJVK is a scheme designed to address the development deficits of the identified minority concentration areas and is being implemented by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The projects to be taken up under PMJVK would be related to creation of infrastructure mainly in the sectors of education, health and skill development, besides innovative schemes for improving the socio-economic and living conditions of minority communities and other communities living in the catchment area, he said.
