Display Basavanna's portrait in govt offices: DC

The portrait of Basaveshwara to be displayed at all government offices.

Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy has issued an order to display Vachana composer Basaveshwara’s portrait in all government offices of the district.

Recently, Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat district president S Mahesh and other activists drew the deputy commissioner’s attention in this regard and pointed out that even though there is a government order to display Basavanna’s portrait in government offices, the same is not being followed.

Annies Kanmani Joy has ordered the display of Basavanna’s portrait before June 15. The Department of Kannada and Culture has initiated measures to distribute the portrait of Basaveshwara painted by artist Kale, to all government offices.
