The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the six-laning of BC Road-Panambur stretch is ready, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said.
He was speaking during the inauguration of new facilities - walking track, mud track, open gym, play park for special children and protective railings around Ganganapalla lake at Kadri Park here, on Friday.
The MP said the DPR had also been prepared for the development of Nanthoor and KPT Circles in the city.
“As much as Rs 160 crore from Amrut project has been diverted to rectify the missing links in UGD works in the city corporation limits,” Nalin said and added that Mangaluru City Corporation which is the implementing authority for Smart City, need to accelerate the works.
Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, “The funds required for the maintenance of various parks in Mangaluru was way higher than the income generated from these parks. For instance, Rs 35,000 per session is required to run a laser show in the Musical Fountain of Kadri Park (the earlier Deer Park)”.
He, further, stated that a project to construct underground market, which connects the National Highway 66 to Kadri Park, will be proposed and the revenue generated from the rents of the shops, could be utilised for the maintenance of the park. The idea is drawn from Palika Bazar in Delhi. A meeting has been conducted with the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
Mayor Bhaskar K said that party politics should not influence development works. A lot of development works will be carried out in the coming five years in Mangaluru city, under Smart City Mission and ADB (Asian Development Bank) schemes.
Kadri North ward Corporator Roopa D Bangera said that Kadri Park was developed at a cost of Rs 1.16 crore to include walking track, mud track, open gym, play park for special children and protective railings around Ganganapalla lake.
A total of Rs 2 crore is reserved for the development of parks in the MCC limits. Rs 4 crore for storm water drains and Rs 179.52 crore for UGD works under the Amrut scheme will be jointly implemented by Central government, state government and MCC, she said.
