The Centre will send a high-level official team to Karnataka to study the drought situation, Revenue Minister R V Deshpande said here on Tuesday.
Deshpande, who met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here, told reporters that he had requested the minister to send a high-level team to the state to study the drought situation and the latter agreed to it.
Due to the failure of the North East monsoon,
a total of 156 taluks had been declared drought-hit and
the Centre should grant Rs 2,064.30 crore under the
calamity relief fund, the minister said.
He said due to the failure of rain,
agriculture and horticulture crops worth
Rs 11,384 crore had been lost.
