The state government will set up a residential hostel exclusively for students of Kalyana Karnataka region in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout.
The hostel will come up at a cost of Rs 60 crore and the proposal will be tabled in the next Cabinet meeting, said K C Narayanagowda, the minister for planning, monitoring and statistics and sports.
“We will get the proposal approved in the Cabinet meeting and begin the tender process immediately,” the minister said. A decision to this effect was taken in a review meeting of the Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board on Wednesday.
The minister also raised concern about unutilised funds in the Board. In 2021-21, Rs 1131 crore was allocated. However, of the 4,016 works approved, only 2,177 have been completed till now, he said, asking the officials to expedite projects. The meeting also decided to seek Rs 2,000 crore funding for the Board in the upcoming budget.
