Karnataka forest department has now reached out to people asking them to volunteer and partner them in forest protection.

This call has intensified after increasing cases of forest fires, especially the one which occurred in Bandipur tiger reserve.

The department on Wednesday called out for volunteers on fire and plastic sensitisation.

The department has sought for at least 25 volunteers at Sr Champakadama Swamy Pilgrimage (jatre), scheduled to be held on March 25 and 26.

The department will also organise a forest fire prevention workshop in Bannerghatta national park on March 24.
