Rangayana of Mysuru and Vanavasi Kalyana Kendra, Kodagu, will organise ‘Namma Jana-Namma Samskrithi Girijanotsava’ at Nittur-Karmadu on February 23.

MLA K G Bopaiah will inaugurate the Girijanotsava. Forestry College lecturer Dr Jage Dowda will deliver a talk on the tribal culture that is on the verge of extinction.

Rangayana director Addanda Cariappa will preside. MLC Shantaram Siddi will be the chief guest.

Koragara Dolu Kunitha of Babu Pangala and team from Dakshina Kannada; Puja Kunutha of Madesha team from Ramnagara; Sidda Damami dance of Ammacchi Mouli Siddi Kala tanda of Uttara Kannada; Gorukana dance of Soliga team from Chamrajnagara; Kamsale by Kumar Nayak and team from Periyapattana; Keelukudure of Manjunath and team from Tumakuru; Dollukunitha by Naganayaka from Mysuru, Karadi Kunitha by Ramesh and team from H D Kote will take part in the Girijanotsava.

In addition, Cheenidudi by Mayamudi Yarava Kala team, Jenukuruba Kolata by J K Ramu and team, Uratikott Aat by Tomara Gopamma team, Sodo Dimmi Kunitha by Nagarahole Ramesh team, Devara Kariyata by Bettakurubara Suma team and Yarava Devara Kunitha by Brahmagiri Prakash team will entertain the audience.

Artistes Jenukurubara Mari, Dasi, Panjariyavara Chatha, traditional practitioner Soligara Nagamma, tribal leader Bettakurubara Kala and Chinni of the Yarava community will be felicitated.

As preparation for the Girijanotsava, Rangayana is engaged in imparting training to the tribals at Nittur-Karmadu for the last one week. A play on tribals will be staged. Theatre artiste N Srinivas is imparting training. The play will throw light on various issues.

Rangayana director Addanda Cariappa said that the Girijanotsava is organised to bring tribals to the mainstream of society.
