The helicopter carrying former chief minister B S Yediyurappa faced trouble landing at Jewargi town in the district, where he had arrived for campaigning as part of BJP’s Vijaya Sankalpa yatre on Monday.

Garbage and plastic waste filled the air around the chopper due to heavy wind, resulting in poor visibility for the pilot. Police officials were forced to clear the waste to help the pilot land the chopper. The helicopter landed safely a few minutes after the entire area was cleaned.

Superintendent of Police Isha Pant told DH that according permission for landing the helicopter did not come under the jurisdiction of the district police.
