The Congress party appears to be preparing for ‘HINDA’ convention, under the leadership of former chief minister Siddaramaiah. The leaders of Scheduled Caste (SC) and backward classes are of the opinion that agitation and conventions are inevitable to protect the values of Indian Constitution.

The leaders, under the guidance of former minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, are preparing for the convention and also making efforts to unite writers, activists and thinkers.

According to sources, Siddaramaiah, who met Mahadevappa at his residence in Bengaluru on Wednesday discussed about organising the convention. However, Siddaramaiah has not spoken about the convention in public.

Speaking to DH, Mahadevappa said, “A movement is needed to strengthen the Constitution. Like-minded people need to raise voice together. Siddaramaiah and myself had discussed about this long ago.”

“It is not necessary to organise AHINDA or HINDA convention to raise voice against injustice. But, our followers are insisting me and Siddaramaiah to lead the convention,” he said.

BJP MLC A H Vishwanath condemned Siddaramaiah and asked his contributions towards minorities and Kurubas. “He should not organise AHINDA or any other convention whenever he wants. The voters are intelligent and observe all developments,” he criticised.

"Siddaramaiah is upset over the success of the convention organised to demand ST status for Kurubas. Thus, he is playing a new game," he said.

"AHINDA has played a major role in Siddaramaiah’s success. AHINDA came to his rescue when he was expelled from JD(S). But, he has failed to contribute towards AHINDA during his term as chief minister," he said.
