Following heavy rain forecast across the coastal districts, in the next 24 hours, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi deputy commissioners have declared holiday for schools and PU Colleges in the districts on Monday.
As per the forecast, heavy rainfall up to 155 mm coupled with gusty wind is likely to lash the coast.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Udupi district experienced 31 mm rainfall. Udupi taluk recorded 35.8 mm, Karkala — 44.36 mm rain and Kundapur taluk — 13.0 mm rainfall.
A house at Banglegudde in Kasaba village in Karkala was damaged and the loss is estimated to be around Rs 25,000.
A tree fell on a house of Annappayya Mayya at Mayyarakeri in Uppunda on Saturday. The roof of the house has been damaged and the walls have developed cracks.
