Zilla Panchayat president B A Harish directed officials from the education department to initiate measures to increase the pass percentage in SSLC and II PUC exams which is scheduled to be held in May and June.
He was speaking at the monthly KDP meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat.
Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the academic year was affected. Measures should be initiated to improve the SSLC and PUC results, he said.
BEO Kantaraju said that SSLC and II PUC classes have commenced from January 1. The classes for class 9 started on February 1. The classes for class 6, 7 and 8 have been started through the Vidyagama programme.
Standing Committee on Agriculture and Industry president K R Manjula said government schools should not be closed even if the school had only five children.
Kannada Sahithya Parishat district president Lokesh Sagar said that Kannada should be implemented effectively.
Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Social Justice president Hosamane Kavitha Prabhakar said RTCs for the government schools should be given. But all the schools are yet to get the RTCs.
ZP CEO Bhanwar Singh Meena said that if the land owned by government schools is encroached upon, it will be cleared.
The ZP president said that Covid-19 is under control in the district. But, people should be cautious.
DHO Dr K Mohan said the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination has begun in the district. The district is in the seventh position in the vaccination drive.
ITDP officer Shivakumar said that post-matric hostels have started functioning. There is a need to build 8,910 houses in haadis. About 25,822 people are yet to be issued caste certificates.
The officer said that 405 applications under the Forest Rights Act are pending review.
Kavitha Prabhakar said that various tribal colonies are yet to be electrified in Karike areas.
PWD executive engineer Madan Mohan said that development of state and district main roads has been taken up. All the roads will be repaired by March.
