In a sharp attack on the Mahagathbandhan, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav said on Wednesday that the only alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “instability.”
Madhav was speaking at a “Modi Once More” event organised by BJP sympathisers.
"There are half-a-dozen people who want to become prime ministers. The CM of Andhra Pradesh thinks that with 25 MPs from his state, he stands a good chance to become the PM. His next-door neighbour K Chandrashekar Rao in Telangana thinks if H D Deve Gowda could become PM, why not him. Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal thinks she's the right choice to lead the country. So does Sharad Pawar. Listening to all this, your CM (H D Kumaraswamy) started weeping again thinking about his father," Madhav said mockingly.
Madhav, an ideologue of the RSS, also derided Congress president Rahul Gandhi's pet NYAY scheme under which five crore poor households have been promised Rs 72,000 every year. "It’s one thing to say, take Rs 6,000 per month, remain poor and keeping voting for me. That’s not Modi’s way. For us, people shouldn’t depend on the government dole," he said.
BJP's Bangalore South candidate L S Tejasvi Surya, speaking on the occasion, invoked national security to target his opponent, senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad.
"Recently, an autorickshaw driver told me he’d vote for Modi because it was only Modi who can teach Pakistan a lesson. But it’s unfortunate that Hariprasad says the Pulwama terror attack was match-fixing," he said. “And the Congress chooses a candidate like him in Bangalore South that’s filled with people who are patriotic."
