Opposition leader in Legislative Council, Kota Srinivas Poojary, strongly criticised the JD(S)-Congress coalition government’s decision to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi.

The MLC told reporters that the government is unnecessarily glorifying a person who was anti-Hindu and massacred Hindus in large numbers. He accused it as a vote bank politics to appease the minorities. He appealed to the chief minister to not to celebrate Tipu Jayanti in Mysuru and Kodagu.

Coming down heavily on the previous Congress government, the MLC said the celebration was initiated by the former chief minister Siddaramaiah. The voters rejected Congress party owing to its appeasement of minorities. But the Congress has not learnt any lessons.

Asserting that the law and order mechanism will be massively disturbed during the celebrations, Poojary said that the state government should act responsibly and it will be accountable for all the chaos during the celebrations.
