Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, along with his wife Anitha, offered bagina (traditional offerings) at the Kabini dam, in H D Kote taluk, Mysuru district, on Friday.
With Wayanad in Kerala receiving copious rains, the Kabini dam constructed across River Kapila, at Beechanahalli, has reached the maximum level of 2,284 ft. Though the bagina offering programme was scheduled at 10 am on Friday, it was delayed by more than three hours, as the CM reached Mysuru, behind schedule. He was accorded a traditional welcome at 3 pm. DC Abhiram G Sankar and other officials were present.
The whole dam was decorated with flowers and buntings. Kumaraswamy-Anitha couple offered bagina at 3.13 pm. The outflow from the dam was reduced to 5,000 cusec during the offering of the bagina. The inflow was 15,000 cusec.
Ministers D K Shivakumar,G T Devegowda, Sa Ra Mahesh, N Mahesh, C Puttarangashetty among others were present.
