Loud sounds were again heard from underground at Attikodige Gram Panchayat limits in Koppa Taluk on Sunday afternoon.
This is the second such incident during this week.
People had heard mysterious sounds from beneath the earth on Friday morning as well.
On Sunday afternoon at 2.58 pm, sounds similar to explosions were heard in Shantigrama and Abbikallu limits.
People came out of their houses on hearing these sounds.
The sounds heard on Sunday were too loud and sent a chill down the spines, said Chetan from Hosanela.
Earlier, the sounds could be heard only within a distance of about 4 to 5 km in Attokodige Gram Panchayat limit. But, on Sunday, the mysterious sounds were also heard in Jalmaru, Anakallumakki, Bendehaklu and Bagilugadde areas, in a stretch of about 7 km.
Dogs started barking after hearing the sound, said Kogre estate owner K L Chandrashekhar.
Scientists from the Karnataka Disaster Management Centre are expected to reach Kogre on Tuesday, to study the situation.
Mines and Geology Department, Chikkamagaluru, scientist Dayanand said that the department will submit a report to the government.
