Measures will be taken to remove silt from the river that flows in the low-lying areas that are affected by flood in Kushalnagar Town Panchayat limits, said MLA M P Appachu Ranjan.
He was speaking after visiting a few layouts on the banks of River Cauvery in Kushalnagar.
The work on removing silt was taken up last year at a cost of Rs 88 lakh. Owing to the rainy season, the work remained incomplete. Now, the contractor has been directed to complete the work at the earliest.
The MLA had visited layouts near Muthappa Temple, Sai Layout and Kuvempu Layout.
To a query on the CD row, the MLA said that elected representatives should become model to society.
"They should be clean in their heart. People have voted us to power and elected representatives should not tarnish the image of voters through their acts," he said.
There is doubt over a third person filing a complaint against former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi. It may be a blackmail tactic as well. There is a need to conduct a thorough investigation into it, he added.
Town Panchayat president B Jaivardhan, ZP member K R Manjula and others were present.
