A proposal to construct a memorial for late Sandalwood star Vishnuvardhan at the Kanteerava studios besides thespian Rajkumar and Ambareesh has now hit a roadblock.
Vishnuvardhan’s family and fans have opposed the proposal and demanded the government to resolve the crisis over the land that has already been allocated.
“We have been struggling to get this work done from nine years. Till date, the government has shown five plots – three in Bengaluru and two in Mysuru. We have been running from pillar to post. All the governments played with our emotions. There is a limit to our patience. Now all of a sudden they are choosing Kanteerava Studio for the memorial. So what about our time and energy that we have spent on this?” asked actor Anirudh, Vishnuvardhan’s son-in-law.
Plans for constructing a memorial for Vishnuvardhan hit a roadblock the day work began. Following a litigation over Abhiman Studio, the government and Vishnuvardhan’s family decided to shift the memorial to Mysuru, the actor’s birthplace.
However, two plots of land, where the memorial was supposed to be constructed in Mysuru, also faced opposition. The government then designated a fifth plot, which is now being opposed by villagers in the vicinity.
“We have lost all hopes on Abhiman Studio. There is no ray of hope about solving the issue...So our choice is Mysuru. December 30 is the deadline for the government to solve the issue. We have been stopping lakhs of fans from protesting against the government all these days as we wanted the issue to be solved peacefully. So if the government fails to act, then it will be between government and fans,” Anirudh said.
Not against HDK
“I have not spoken anything against Chief Minister Kumaraswamy. It was he who took this initiative when Vishnuvardhan passed away. I spoke against all the governments and officials who are playing with our emotions from nine years. I would like to make it clear that my words were not against Kumaraswamy, but it is another request from our family to solve the issue, which he had mentioned in his election manifesto,” Anirudh clarified.
