The mock allotment of seats for entry into medical and dental courses would take place on Wednesday.

The option entry was thrown open for students on Saturday and the mock allotment of seats under the National Eligibility and Entrance Exam (NEET) would be announced on Wednesday for the same. Following this, students will have an option to edit the entries they have made. This academic year, the seat availability in 48 medical colleges has been published on the KEA website. Among the government colleges, the seats for Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences have been withheld as the Medical Council of India has denied permission citing lack of several facilities.

Students seeking admission under sports quota in several professional colleges, however, complained that confusion prevails. Till late in the evening on Tuesday, even as the process of option entry had begun for medical seats, the eligibility of sports quota was not uploaded on the KEA website. “We are yet to understand what our choices would be. There was so much confusion a few weeks ago over the eligibility. Some of us were told that the sports that we are playing is not being considered this year,” said one of the aspirants.

A KEA official said the authority was in the process of uploading the list. “The eligibility list is ready and would be uploaded in a day’s time.”
