In a humanitarian act, the Muslim youth of Siddapura performed the last rites of a Hindu woman who died in Arekadu.
Bammi (95), an elderly woman belonging to a family of plantation workers, had passed away on Tuesday.
The son of the deceased woman informed the Arekadu Muslim Jamaat that there was no one to help him in carrying out the final rites. The Jamaat President P M Moosa asked the youth of the village to extend a helping hand.
The Muslim youth, in the presence of the son of Bammi, carried out the last rites at the Hindu crematorium.
Arekadu Gram Panchayat member P K Yusuf Ali, B Y Prabhushekhar, villagers C K Muhammed Kutti, Ibrahim, K Y Sulaiman, P Ashraf and Abu were present.
