Nine differently abled persons who were self employed and four employers who have employed specially abled were felicitated at a programme organised to mark International Day of Disabled Persons.
The programme was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) DK district and the Rotary Club at Rotary Bal Bhavan on Monday.
The self-employed including Narendra Bhat (pickle industry), Pramila Boluru (petty shop owner), Vijaya Bhaskara Attavara (shop), Suresh Moolya Belthangady (arecanut dehusking), Ravindra Shetty Surathkal (petty shop owner), Ananthesh Pachhanadi (mobile recharge shop owner), Manjula Bajal (aquarium shop owner), Raj M Salian (auto driver) and Koragappa Gowda Mani (agriculturalist) were felicitated on the occasion.
Canon Samson Lobo, Jeevan Ravi D’Souza, Lata, and Karunakaran were felicitated for employing differently abled in their organisations.
Speaking on the occasion, IRCS district unit chairman Shantharam Shetty said, “IRCS works for the empowerment and welfare of the differently abled people in the district. IRCS also supports them by providing them with employment opportunities, basic amenities, healthcare and education.”
