Nisha James, a 2013 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of Udupi district on Thursday.
The present SP, Laxman Nimbargi, has been transferred as Superintendent of Police of Wireless Department, Bengaluru.
Nimbargi successfully handled important cases in the district during his one-year tenure since January 1, 2018.
Nisha James was serving as the commandant, Fourth Battalion, KSRP, Bengaluru prior to the posting as SP of Udupi district. She is a student Shri Ram College in New Delhi.
Nisha, who hails from Kerala, had served as ASP in Chitradurga and Sagara in Shivamogga district. She has also worked as a journalist before taking up the civil service examinations.
