The coal loading at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), Panambur, has helped the Palakkad Division to improve loading. The division has transported nearly 3.645 million tonnes of coal during the period.
Freight earnings of Rs 385 crores (up-to the end of January 2019) is 37% more than the corresponding period last year. Earnings from the commercial sundry too saw growth during the period.
The division earned Rs 16.23 Crores (up-to the end of January 2019) from Commercial Sundry side (such as earnings from parking and catering), commercial publicity. The growth under this head is 30% more than the corresponding period last year.
A press release by Palakkad Division Public Relations Officer (PRO) M K Gopinath said the division was moving ahead of its target in freight loading.
During this financial year 2018-19 from April to January, the division loaded 5.039 million tonnes freight as against the target of 4.762 million tonnes-- which is an increase of 5.8% against target.
