Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has instructed top officials to ensure that that all files sent to him are in Kannada.
Kumaraswamy, through the office of Chief Secretary T M Vijaybhaskar, has
sent oral instruction that beginning November 1 (Kannada Rajyotsava day) files which reach him but are
not in Kannada will be returned.
Sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said Kumaraswamy had taken exception that despite several government orders and circulars directing the mandatory use of Kannada in all administrative matters, a section of officers were not following them.
This, even after the Kannada Development Authority warned them.
Exemption has been given to files related to inter-state matters, Centre and court issues.
