Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh has alleged that “people in power” were harassing those who supported her during the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, Sumalatha said that the “people in power” had threatened the film actors who campaigned for her in the run-up to the elections. “The actors were told that they will have to repent their decision. They have to clarify the type of repentenance they are referring to,” she said, adding that she would bring the matter to the notice of superintendent of police.
Claiming that she got good support in all the taluks during campaigning, Sumalatha said that the district recorded more than 80% voting and women numbered more. “As most women promised to support me I am confident of winning the elections.”
Denying the rumours that she would fly to Singapore after the elections, Sumalatha said that Mandya had become Singapore for her. She said irrespective of the outcome of the elections, she would be with the people of Mandya.
