The polling for three ULBs – Mulki Town Panchayat, Moodbidri Town Municipal Council and Sullia Town Panchayat – was peaceful on Wednesday.
The overall polling percentage was 69.45%.
Mulki Town Panchayat recorded 66.3% polling for 18 wards. There were 43 candidates in the fray. In the 2014 election, the Town Panchayat had registered 72% polling.
The counting of the votes will be held at the Mulki Community Hall on May 31 at 8 am. After the polling, the EVMs have reached strong room.
Interestingly, in Ward No 13, the Congress had not fielded its candidate. The EVM, therefore, did not have Congress symbol. A woman, who had come to exercise her franchise, objected that the EVM did not carry the Congress symbol, but had to exercise her franchise and leave the booth.
Moodbidri Town Municipal Council registered 67.7% voting. The polling was held in 23 wards with 77 candidates in the fray. Ward No 2 registered highest polling of 77.15% while Ward No 8 registered lowest polling of 58.2%.
Sullia Town Panchayat registered the highest 75.68% polling. The election was held for 20 wards, with 53 candidates in the fray.
Out of 53,153 voters in three ULBs, 36,913 exercised their franchise. A total of 17,518 men and 19,395 women cast their votes.
