A teenager’s prank not only cost him dearly but also ended up in his arrest on Saturday.
Malpe police arrested Srijan (18), a resident of Thottam, who had made a video clip of him threatening to plant a bomb in Malpe beach soon. In the video clipping, Srijan in order to remain anonymous had appeared covering his face with a towel. The video clipping extending support to Pakistan had gone viral on social media on Friday.
On Saturday morning, one Sachin from Malpe filed a complaint in Malpe police station. Malpe police station Sub-Inspector Madhu B E, who took up investigation, arrived first at Malpe beach.
The police interrogated one Anand from Nepal, who revealed that one Srijan had forwarded the clip to him.
Police then went to the house of Srijan and arrested him. Srijan, a shepherd, was taken aback as he was unaware that his prank would land him in deep trouble. Police had arrested Srijan under sections 153 (A) of CrPC for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race and doing acts detrimental to maintenance of harmony and under section 505 (2) of IPC for public mischief.
