The proposal to construct a bridge across Hebbole on Kalasa-Horanadu Road has not been sanctioned so far. Though a bridge was constructed 25 years ago, it remains submerged during every monsoon.

Last year, the bridge was submerged 8 to 10 times, thus disrupting the connectivity between Kalasa and Horanadu. Even the pillars and concrete slab of the bridge has weakened.

With the efforts of Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple Dharmadarshi G Bheemeshwarai Joshi and PWD Minister H D Revanna, a proposal to construct a new bridge was prepared.

Senior engineers from the PWD had conducted the soil test at the site and had prepared an estimate of Rs 15 crore to construct the bridge. The project plan has been sent to senior officials of the PWD. Unfortunately, the proposal is still pending for approval.

JD(S) state unit vice president H D Jwalanayya said, “We had appealed to Revanna to sanction the bridge. We will pressurise him once again.”
