The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday trapped two people for accepting a bribe from a deputy range forest officer in Tiptur, Tumakuru district.

The arrested have been identified as Poornima, assistant public prosecutor, and Sharan Kumar N, a typist at the JMFC Court in Tiptur. According to the ACB, Poornima had sought a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the DyRFO after he was acquitted by the JMFC court in order to not appeal his acquittal.

Of the Rs 40,000, Poornima had asked the DyRFO to transfer Rs 20,000 to her bank account. The rest was to be paid to Sharan Kumar. ACB officials caught Sharan red-handed and subsequently arrested Poornima.

Sources said that Poornima was among those against whom the Lokayukta had filed a charge sheet in 2017 for altering the answer sheets of the candidates for the assistant public prosecutor and additional government pleaders examination in 2014.
