BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday wrote to Legislative Assembly Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar opposing a proposed move that state budget copies will be provided to members in the Assembly only after Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy completes reading the budget proposals.
Kumaraswamy, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the budget proposals for 2019-20 at 12.30 pm in the Legislative Assembly on Friday.
It has always been a tradition that the copies are distributed to members and media as soon as the chief minister/finance minister starts reading the budget proposals. “The move is unprecedented in the history of Karnataka Assembly. Please issue directions to restore the old system,” Yeddyurappa stated in his letter.
Later, Kumaraswamy clarified that the budget will be hosted online as soon as the presentation starts.
