Amidst unresolved demands, the counselling for transfers of pre-university lecturers has commenced, leaving several lecturers unhappy.

The PU lecturers had put forth several demands before the government on the transfer rules. These included having a proposal to reduce the number of years of work from five years to three for couples. They also sought an exemption from the rule for those undergoing dialysis.

As there was no amendment made to the transfer rules in view of elections, none of these demands could be implemented.

“We have been serving as lecturer for four years now and are hoping for a transfer. We were hopeful that at least this year, the transfer rules would be changed and brought down to three years,” said Saritha, one of the lecturers from Bengaluru.

It was also the third time that the PU department posted a timetable for counselling and had cancelled it two times previously citing technical reasons.

“We wanted to have the changes made before counselling commenced. Several of us are unhappy about it. There is also a lot of confusion with the process itself,” said one of the lecturers.
