Shivakumaraiah (66) alias Shivakumaraswamy alias Guruji was earlier arrested in May 2016 for the II PU chemistry question paper leak case, being probed by the CID. He was the kingpin in the case, according to CID. He would not use any phones and would use the phones of others, to communicate with his associates using code names. “Tomato” was the code name for his business, CID sources said.

Shivakumariah was involved in question paper leak scams since 2008. Criminal cases were registered against him since 2008 at police stations such as New Extension police station in Tumakuru, Gubbi police station as also Vijayanagar, Nandini Layout, Chandra Layout and Malleswaram police stations in Bengaluru. He was arrested in 2008, but managed to come out on bail.

He is also involved in the leak of other question papers of SSLC, CET and KPSC, CID sources added.
