The district administration in association with the department of Health and Family Welfare has set up 657 booths across Udupi district to administer polio drops to children, below the age of five, as part of Pulse Polio Drive on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati said that 77,740 children would be administered polio drops. There are 63,630 children in rural areas while 14,110 in urban areas.
“Of the total 657 booths, 569 are in rural areas and 88 in urban areas. That apart nine mobile booths have also been established.” The inauguration of the drive will be held at Beedanagudde Anganawadi, Korlapati said.
As many as 2,774 Accredited Social Health Activists, Anganwadi workers, junior health assistants and members of voluntary organisations will work as volunteers while 137 supervisors will be part of the campaign, she said.
In rural areas, the drive to visit houses will be held on March 11 to 12 , while in urban areas it will be held from March 11 to 13, she added.
