A group of SC/ST employees and activists shouted slogans against the Congress-JD(S) coalition on Thursday after Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy refused to hear them out on the raging issue of reservation in promotion.

The group waited for Kumaraswamy to arrive for the coalition coordination and monitoring committee meeting at the Kumara Krupa guest house. Upon arrival, Kumaraswamy walked right inside, angering those who waited. The group wanted to submit a petition to Kumaraswamy urging the government to implement a law that seeks to circumvent a Supreme Court judgement striking down reservation in promotion. The law has been kept in abeyance as the matter is still before the Supreme Court.

“It came up for discussion and we’ve asked the government to move as per the opinion of the advocate-general,” coordination committee chairperson Siddaramaiah told reporters.
