An elephant has damaged a rail track barricade near Muduganuru Hosakere, under Nagarahole National Park in Hunsur taluk, Mysuu district, on Thursday night.

Since the past one week, there are reports that elephants are straying in Muduganuru, Hejjodlu and Chikka Hejjuru, on the fringes of forests. An elephant had damaged a tractor parked outside a house. In the melee, its tusk was broken, a piece of which was later found near the tractor. Similarly, a few cars were attacked.

After damaging the rail track barricade, the elephant has raided a few houses and farmlands in Veeranahosahalli on Thursday night, complained the villagers.
