Heavy rain has resulted in 118 human deaths in the state so far this year, Revenue Minister R V Deshpande informed the Council on Wednesday.

In a written reply to Ivan D’Souza (Congress), Deshpande said the government had so far provided compensation of Rs 4.9 crore for human deaths and
Rs 58.05 lakh for cattle deaths. The total damage to property due to the showers is estimated at Rs 169.82 crore, he said.
