Urging authorities to fulfil the demands by the Yarava community, a rally will be taken out in Ponnampet on February 15, under the aegis of District and Taluk Yarava Yuva Okkoota, said Yarava Yuva Okkoota leader P S Mutta.

Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, he said that a memorandum will be submitted to the district administration, urging the state government to recommend to the Central government to announce Yarava community as a primitive tribal group.

He further said that separate funds should be released from Maharshi Valmiki Abhivruddhi Nigama for the development of the Yarava community.

The pension is not being paid from the past four months, he said.

Leaders Y C Shankru, Y M Siddu, P B Raju, P M Ramu, P J Subramani and P C Suresh were present in the press meet.
